Working with Skills
Ivanti Neurons for PPM allows Project Managers and Portfolio Managers to create Skills and assign them to Resources or Project Roles. See Working with Project Roles. Project and Portfolio Managers can search for Resources with the Skills required by Project Tasks.
Creating a Skill
To create a Skill:
1.Click More... in the main menu bar.
2.Click Project Skills to open the Project Skills workspace.
3.Click New Project Skill to open the New Project Skill form.
4.Enter the name of the new Skill, and click Save.
Linking Skills
After creating Skills, link them to Resources and Roles. This allows you to match the Skills required for a Project with the appropriate Resources.
Linking Skills to a Resource
After creating Skills, link them to individual resources.
1.Double click on a Skill from the Project Skills workspace list view.
2.Click Link on the Employees tab to search for an employee.
3.Select Custom Search, and enter your search parameters.
4.Click Search.
5.Click the name of the employee then click Select to link the skill to the employee.
Linking Skills to a Project Role
Often a Skill applies to everyone assigned a certain Project Role. For example, you might apply the skill "SQL Server" to all resources in the "Database Administrator" Role. When you assign a Role to a Resource, the Skills applied to that Role automatically transfer to the Resource.
When you remove a Role from a Resource, the Skills applied through that Role remain applied to the Resource.
1.Double click on a Skill from the Project Skills workspace list view.
2.Click Link on the Project Roles tab.
3.Click the Project Role, then click Select.
